The Best Gift is a Solid Introduction to Our Real Father

So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Matthew 7:11

Probably not many of us would call our Fathers "evil".   But the point is well-taken that each of us, in contrast to God, is so.

My own earthly father is 88.  I have known him all my life, and most of his, and have found him to be a solid introduction to my real Father, our heavenly Father.

Dad has integrity.  He is who he is equally in all situations.
Dad is giving.  He provides for his children whenever a need arises, and sometimes before.  Dad teaches.  He encourages critical-thinking and strong ownership of good ethics.
Dad loves nature and is a keen observer, noting patterns and cycles, and passes this information down through the generations.
Dad is tender-hearted and strong.  He demonstrated his love for his own father by caring for him in his last years.
Dad makes it easier to follow the next verse in Matthew:  In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the Prophets.

Thanks, Dad...and Happy Fathers' Day!

NOTES from the Edge:
Tremendous Life Book Clubs are in full swing this spring!! Comments sound like critical thinking skills are much improved, class participation has swelled, language skills are clearer, and excitement about the club seems to be growing.  One reader (AM) said, "I love this book because it is so empowering; it brought order to the misunderstanding I had about the importance of a healthy thought life." Another clubber , LJ, remarked, "This book (As A Man Thinketh) is one of the best books I have ever read, I've read parts of it every day; it has melted my heart. and mind."  Participant (HT) told the group he had never understood the power of a controlled thought and how the lack of it got him incarcerated; now he practices careful thinking every day.
