CECAN :: transforming the practice of policy evaluation in the Nexus to make it fit for a complex world
Policy Evaluation For A Complex World
CECAN hosted its official launch event at St Martin in the Fields Hall, London on September 13th. "Policy Evaluation For A Complex World" was introduced by Professor Jane Elliott (ESRC), closely followed by a keynote speech from Sir Mark Walport (GCSA), given to an extensive audience of Government policy analysts, academics, social researchers and business people. An expert panel then discussed the question: "Is policy fit for a complex world?". View the event in full here.

Progress So Far...

CECAN, a £3m ESRC National Research Centre hosted by the University of Surrey, has been creating impact in a variety of ways over the first 8 months, working towards the shared goal of improving Nexus based policies for future generations.

Since the project began in March, the CECAN team have been: working with co-funders to explore 'real world' case study evaluation projects to pursue, delivering a monthly seminar series in Westminster to share knowledge and expertise on a range of subjects, hosting a launch event to debate whether UK policy is fit for a complex world, setting up a fellowship scheme for individuals to work alongside the Centre, recruiting PhD students and research associates across the UK on innovative research, hosting practical workshops on complexity and evaluation, publishing policy and practice notes, compiling a blog and much more!
