We had a very busy and productive summer on the technology front here in Edgemont.
After six months of development, the new Edgemont website launched on June 29th, right after school ended. Among other things, the new website features a redesigned and streamlined layout, department and grade level sites, a district directory, and mobile device compatibility.
Some other exciting technology highlights include:
The hiring of a new, full time K-12 Instructional Technology Facilitator
Professional development in Robotics/Coding at the Digital Arts Experience for teachers in Grades 5-8
Curriculum review by teachers in Grades 5 & 7
500 new Chromebooks for the coming school year already received and provisioned
1:1 Chromebooks for all 5th and 7th grade students later this year
New Macbooks and iMacs for EHS Art classes
New online Help Desk rolled out for all technical support issues
A 100% increase in our wireless broadband from 250 mbps to 500 mbps
In-house production of all student and staff IDs, including scannable IDs for all cafeteria purchases
Purchase of cloud based software to manage all of our technology assets.
We are looking forward to an innovative school year! If you have any questions around technology at Edgemont, please reach out to Paul Garofano, Assistant to the Superintendent for Technology and Information Systems, at firstname.lastname@example.org, #914.725.1500 x 1589.
