We're thrilled to welcome Coumba Touré as Co-Cordinator of Africans Rising
From Mali and, Senegal based feminist, writer, artist and human rights activist, Coumba Toure was recently appointed as Co-Coordinator of Africans Rising for Justice, Peace and Dignity.
Kumi Naidoo, Founding Chair said: “Africans Rising is delighted and fortunate to have a person of the calibre and experience of Coumba to work with Muhammed Lamin Saidykhan to lead the movement to deliver on the founding charter, the Kilimanjaro Declaration’’.
Coumba Toure is a leading change-maker in youth educational development and social entrepreneurship. Her activism includes writing children’s books, as tools to build a community that supports young people in creating their own learning tools and social change projects.
Coumba also works to develop leadership amongst girls and women on the African continent and in the Diaspora - skills and experience she will call on in here role organising and mobilising artists, activists, women and youth movements for social change. Coumba stressed on the importance of young Africans today to understand that they have the ability to build the future they want, not simply accept the past they have inherited.
We'd also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of the supporters, partners and friends who have made this first few months since the #25May2017 launch of the movement such a success. We are growing together, from strength to strength and we look forward to building and co-creating with you as we build the #AfricaWeWant.
