Hugh Masekela & Pan-Africanism
Legendary South African born trumpeter Hugh Masekela has been a champion of Pan-Africanism for as long as he has been making music. This week, we bring you some of the best clips of Bra Hugh talking about music, Pan-Africanism and life.

The West is afraid of us getting together to admit we are all the same people.
Hugh Masekela speaks on Africa Unity

I cried for Angolans, Mozambicans, Zimbabweans...
I don't look at myself as a South African - Hugh Masekela

Now you know how to properly pronounce 'Masekela'
Why jazz maestro Hugh Masekela isn't a legend

We hope Bra Hugh has inspired you to make a short video telling the world what Pan-Africanism means to you. Share your video with the hashtags #PanAfricanism #AfricansRising and we'll help send your message to other Africans and the world.

#BirthdayMonth of the  #KilimanjaroDeclaration
As the people who have signed up to the #KilimanjaroDeclaration we are asking you - the founders of Africans Rising to share the #KilimanjaroDeclaration all over the African continent and in the world, this #BirthdayMonth

Start to talk to the people around you about the Kilimanjaro Declaration – what it means to you and why you signed up.

Ask your local school, clinic, small and large businesses – even government departments and police stations for 30 minutes to speak about the Kilimanjaro Declaration

Send a letter to your local politician, civic leader, business organisation, volunteer club (like Rotary, Lions), to newspapers and online sites, telling them about the Kilimanjaro Declaration and why you have signed up – tell them why you think they should sign up. If you need some inspiration, have a look at Hilma Mote's powerful blog on why she's pledged her support for the Kilimanjaro Declaration.

Of course, if you can grab a quick photo and use the hashtag #AfricansRising when you’re spreading the word about the Kilimanjaro Declaration – that would be a great way to join the growing online community of @AfricansRising on Twitter. You can also connect with the other people in the movement on Facebook and Instagram - the online communities continue to grow - we look forward to hearing your voice.
