Happy New Year and welcome to 2017! After a short break over Christmas, we are well and truly getting back into the swing of things.

While many of us were taking a bit of time off over Christmas, a significant number of our temps continued to work over the holiday period. We are so proud to have such a valuable team of hard-working temps with us. If your company is looking for dedicated temporary or permanent staff, please call our Cairns or Townsville offices to find out more.

As we settle in to the rhythm of the new year we are also gearing up for the move to our new Cairns office. Although we regret to leave our wonderful spot in Cairns Corporate Tower, we are looking forward to our new location opposite what will soon be the Cairns Performing Arts Centre. It is an exciting time to be located in an area with such change and development taking place in the form of The Precinct, the Cairns Aquarium, and the upgrading of the Rydges Tradewinds hotel. In addition to the positivity which accompanies construction in the CBD, the Federal jobs package brings further hope to the region with funding available for local infrastructure projects, business innovation grants, and skills training.

In other news, we have a new Australian in our midst. Our Townsville Recruitment Consultant, Dawn Hills, celebrated Australia Day by becoming an Australian citizen. Congratulations, Dawn!

With the first month of the year now already behind us, we are looking forward to the changes that 2017 has to bring, not only for ourselves but for the region as well.

Happy New Year to all our clients, candidates and colleagues. I hope you had lovely Christmas and New Year celebrations with your family and friends. It is always such a busy build up to Christmas: lots of fun, shopping and socialising which is almost exhausting by the time the holidays arrive. Once all the festivities die down, it is such a nice break and time for us to reflect on the year that was and to set goals and plans for the new year ahead. It seems the whole country goes on holidays between Christmas and Australia Day.

Speaking of Australia Day, we offer our sincere congratulations to Charles Woodward, on his selection as the Cairns Citizen of the Year. Charles is a great choice for not only is he a pioneer of tourism in Cairns but he has dedicated many years toward fundraising for the Oncology Unit in Cairns and was a driver behind the Liz Plummer Cancer Care Centre; and what a nice man Charles is. Congratulations to Noel Price who was awarded Townsville Citizen of the year. Noel was recognised for his decades long contribution to the Arts and Education. Noel has helped develop many young musicians to a professional level and he has volunteered his time to countless worthy community and charity organisations. His dedication and contribution to the Townsville community has been outstanding and he is a great choice for the honour.
