Nella Mae's Farm

Fresh, naturally-grown produce from our family farm in Cove, Oregon

Weekly Update

Hello friends,

My gosh it is dry! I can remember Aprils where it rained nearly every day. Let's hope for some rain soon.

Thanks to everyone who has stopped by the farmstand since we opened April 9th. Just a reminder that the farmstand has moved one driveway up the hill. It is now located at 69361 Antles Lane in Cove.

Finally, the dry weather and cold nights are making me think this is going to be a slow start to the season. We lost all our transplanted, covered cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower to frost and even some zucchini in the greenhouse. We've had to start over on some things, so thanks in advance for your patience with the volume, timing and variety of produce.

What's in Season
This year I will be selling produce at our farmstand in Cove, the Saturday farmers market, Community Merchants and Hines Meat Co. Salad will also be available at Platz Family Farmstand and through the Val's Veggies CSA. As restaurants open up, you'll see produce there too.

Right now, our produce is only available at our Cove farmstand. The fridge is re-stocked with freshly picked produce on Tuesdays and Fridays by 5pm. Available until gone!
  • Bages of arugula, spinach or pea shoots
  • Blind Date Coffee
  • Eggs
  • Baked goods
Remember--we moved the farmstand up the road (east) one driveway to the farm entrance. 69361 Antles Lane.
Nella Mae's Farmstand pantry
Since the beginning of COVID, we have had a free food, books, and games pantry in the farmstand. Sometimes houseplants even show up there! Please feel free to take what you need from the pantry shelves and leave non-perishable, healthy foods, books and games to share. Potatoes, onions, garlic and other produce that doesn't have to be refrigerated is ok to leave too.

Become a Farmers Market vendor
Often folks think you have to have some sort of secret password to become a vendor at the farmers market. Not true! The market is open to folks who grow or make local products. You don't have to sign up for the whole season either. Come as you are with the time and products you have!

If you have something you make or grow and are interested in selling at the farmers market this year, you can apply to be a vendor at the market website:

Farmers Market starts May 15th
Upcoming Garden classes
I will be teaching two more gardening classes at the farm soon.

  • Graze for More Pasture class- Simple rotational grazing methods to avoid over grazing, control weeds, and lengthen your grazing season. This class will help you better graze any species on small to large pastures.
I will finalize the dates this week and let you know more soon!
Vaccine info
First, thank you to all the health care workers, health department, and volunteers making the vaccine clinics happen!
