We're hiring!
We're looking for two Farm Assistants for the 2021 growing season.

Farm Assistants experience first-hand what it takes to manage a diverse small farm through the growing season. The work is physical and mentally engaging. Farm Assistants help with harvest, planting, weeding, irrigation, pruning, trellising, and other production tasks. The work is varied throughout the day, the week, and season. It is a great job for someone who likes to work outside and likes to learn new skills.

Become a Vendor at the La Grande Farmers Market

Often folks think you have to have some sort of secret password to become a vendor at the farmers market. Not true! The market is open to folks who grow or make local products. You don't have to sign up for the whole season either. Come as you are with the time and products you have!

If you have something you make or grow and are interested in selling at the farmers market this year, join the Annual Vendor meeting April 9th on Zoom to learn more.
Vaccine info
First, thank you to all the health care workers, health department, and volunteers making the vaccine clinics happen!

As of March 1st, folks 65 and over can sign up for a COVID vaccine.

I have heard from several folks who are not 65 and over that Safeway is vaccinating anyone who wants it. You can sign up for an appointment at their website here.

I have also heard you can get the J&J vaccine at Bimart now.

The CHD spots fill up very quickly. I've tried to sign up several neighbors with some success. Make sure to subscribe for the CHD listserv if you're in Union County for updates. www.chdinc.org/subscribe

Tips for signing up on the CHD website:
  • Don't use an iPad or tablet--the website has issues on those devices. Use a desktop computer.
  • Sign up at www.chdinc.org/gv. At the top of the page it will either say registration is OPEN in green or CLOSED in red. If open, there are dates in blue. Click the date you want and it will prompt you to fill out your info. Sometimes it takes a few tries. Keep trying!
  • When you go to sign up, scroll to the bottom first. If you can see blue time slots to the right of the calendar, that means you can sign up. If it says "no slots available" in grey to the right of the calendar, everything is full.
