The Country SA PHN was selected as one of 10 regions for the recently announced a two-year Health Care Home Trial in General Practice, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) and Aboriginal Health Services (AMSs). Social Impact Documentary - Embrace
The Burra Community School, supported by the Yorke and North regional strategies team held an in-school screening of the social impact documentary Embrace.  Over 50 students ranging from years 7 to 11 attended the screening which was extremely well received and lead to robust discussions how what more could be done by the students to increase awareness and promote positive body image throughout their school and local community. Kincraig Medical Clinic 
Country SA PHN frequently run surveys and regular community consultations to understand health services needs and to identify gaps in rural and remote country South Australia.
A key way in which these needs are filled is through commissioning service delivery. Country SA PHN believes that general practice in rural and remote areas are key stakeholders central to pin pointing the local health issues and have valuable input in decision making to address local issues.

Health Professionals can improve claims for Carer Payment and minimise their administration requirements.
The Department of Social Services (DSS) and Centrelink are working in partnership to field
test questions for a new assessment process for Carer Payment and Carer Allowance.
This national field test started in September 2016.
 
The field test is supporting the development of a more streamlined assessment process

South Australian Premier’s Nursing and Midwifery Scholarships 2017/2018
Every year the South Australian Premier awards scholarships to nurses and midwives to undertake overseas observational study tours in their chosen field. The scholarships are open to nurses or midwives currently employed in the aged, private or public sectors who want to explore best practice which leads to positive patient/client care outcomes, supports the health and well-being of the South Australian community and/or positive work environments. Aged Care Legislated Review
As part of the aged care changes announced in 2012, a comprehensive review was included in the Aged Care (living Longer Living Better) Act 2013. The Aged Care Legislated Review will look at the impact of the changes to date and future directions.

SA Cervix Screening Program Clinic Extension Grants 2016-17
The SA Cervix Screening Program now have Clinic Extension Grants of up to $2,000 available for Cervical Screening Providers. This funding is available to increase the reach of cervical screening clinics over a specified period of time by enabling existing cervical screening providers to extend clinic hours or support outreach clinics to screen women who are overdue or who have never been screened. Establishing a functional diabetic retinopathy screening service in general practice and primary health care services
Mater Group has launched an online practice implementation module which provides a comprehensive guide for clinicians and managers to establish a functional diabetic retinopathy screening service in their practice.
The online module cost $350 and includes perspectives of patients and practitioners regarding optimal screening and is suitable for urban, rural and Aboriginal Medical Service settings.
