ASHBY: ALWAYS STRIVING TO EXCEL

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

It is with great excitement that we begin the transition of returning to school next Tuesday May 26th for all Prep, Grade 1 and 2 students and Tuesday June 9th for Grades 3 to 6.
To support all staff to prepare for the transition, Monday 25th May 2020 will be a pupil-free day. We will be using this day to ensure the health advice is able to be followed, re-establish school routines, and plan for face to face teaching and learning programs to recommence.
We will not be altering our daily start and finish times. Students are to arrive between 8:40am and 8:50am through the Waratah St entrance (middle and back playground gate) or Second St gate. No parents/carers will be able to enter the school building unless specific arrangements have been made. No one is to congregate on site.

Enhanced cleaning at Ashby will be implemented for the remainder of Term 2 and Term 3. This will provide progressive cleaning of high-touch points and other surfaces throughout the day.
Even as we return to school, it remains important that physical distancing between adults and strict hygiene measures continue to be observed.
No student or staff member that is unwell is to attend school.
Can I ask that every student bring a water bottle to school each day to reduce the use of drinking taps.
We will no longer be providing Remote Learning programs to students in P-2 from May 22nd and for students in 3-6 from Friday June 5th. We are expecting and encouraging all students to return to school on the specified dates, unless unwell or medically vulnerable. It is important to support students to return to normal routine, acknowledging the situation, providing developmentally suitable information about what is occurring, as well as providing a safe space for students to raise their concerns and feelings.
Can I please thank all parents/carers and family members that have been supporting children at home.  We are aware of the complexities and can only imagine in some circumstances the pressure that everyone has been under these past couple of months. Well done to you all on your efforts. We are really excited to be welcoming back our youngest students next week and look forward to seeing the 3-6 students in a couple more weeks.
