Thursday night learning at Mercaz this week! 9:00-10:30.
Meet the Mercaz Members
Featuring: Yaacov (Yasha), Maya and Rachel Kimelfeld

Where they're from: Rachel is from outside of Boston originally and then NYC. Yasha is from Moldova originally and then Israel, Conn. and NYC.

What brought them to Seattle: Yasha’s job at Amazon, with the added bonus that Rachel has family and a close childhood friend here.

Fun date night: They've been going to Open Mic Night at Laughs Comedy Club for dates recently. It’s hit or miss but some of the comics are hilarious, and it’s a good date night for someone who can’t drink : )

Activities they are enjoying these days:
Rachel - getting back into reading novels, Barre3, nesting.
Yasha - reading history books, finding new kosher wines, the occasional Aikido class
Maya - playdates, drawing buildings, ballet/tap class

What's on their winter bucket list: They checked off the biggest thing - a mini babymoon to LA. 4 days of sun, sleep, restaurants and no obligations was amazing!

What appeals to them about Mercaz and about the North End community: "We find the North End community so warm and welcoming. The progressive and accepting atmosphere of Mercaz combined with a commitment to halacha makes it a shul that really works for both of us, and we really enjoy spending time with people in the community!"

2020 Women*'s Megillat Esther reading!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2020 at 4pm. More info at http://bit.ly/mercaz-women-purim-2020. To read, please sign up at that document directly, or let us know if you have any questions. Thanks!

* What do we mean by "Women's"? This reading is by and for women. This event is meant to encourage female representation in the traditional Orthodox space. In order to encourage women to participate, as of 2019, this will be a women-only space. If all the individuals reading at the Women's reading share that they are comfortable with the presence of men during the reading, this can be revisited in the future. If some or all of the readers wish to organize another mixed reading at another time during the holiday, we also welcome that. Note that for reading of other megillot, such as Megillat Ruth, we have an all-gender welcome to read/listen model.
