American Optimism Highest Since Start of Pandemic

As the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines continues, Americans are feeling more upbeat about the economy than they’ve been since the pandemic began, according to the Consumer Sentiment Index. Economists noted that the improvements in consumer attitudes recorded last month–up to an index 84.9–are virtually unprecedented while predicting the housing market will continue to surge in 2021.

“Current Events”

#1 Current Event
It’s Thursday morning and I’m about to drive to Arizona for my younger brothers “Celebration of Life” (in my younger days, they were called funerals), but I guess that is no longer appropriate speech.

#2 Current Event
I have the car packed up and I can’t find my phone…I can’t possibly leave my house for Az., without my phone…I can’t go anywhere anymore without my phone!  Luckily, I have “Find my I-Phone on my computer,  I go there… and yes, my phone is somewhere in the house but I don’t know any phone numbers to call and ask them to call me cause they are all stored in my phone!  I retrace my steps again, throw everything out of my purse and hope its not packed in the car.  I find my phone next to the hair hot rollers I used this morning…I should use them more often I guess!  It was on silent!!!  It’s never on silent.

#3 Current Event
Sometime next week we will have mediation with CDAR and NAR about our name change,  just so you are “in the know”…we want to change PSRAR to GPSR…easier to remember and we want to take advantage of the NAR Public Relations “That’s Who We R” slogan.

I will be back in Palm Springs on Tuesday, the day this newsletter is distributed…until then, have some fun this weekend, you deserve it!

Only Do an Open House if you can Afford It!

At the present time it is illegal to conduct a regular open house in California. This is anticipated
to be the rule until maybe June 15, 2021 per the Department of Health and the Governor’s
Office. All cities in the valley will abide by the guidance from the State of California
Your California Association of Realtors is working with the powers that be to start allowing open
houses, but with the current market conditions, multiple offers on properties, it is hard to justify
slow sales because of lack of open houses.

If you do an open house you can be investigated by the DRE and fined, so if you want to pay a
fine then go ahead.

PSRAR will keep you posted on any updates via this newsletter or the Wednesday meetings.

least. You need to register for this at

Keep Tuesday April 27, 2021 open as that is the 2021 Legislative Day and we will be meeting
with our state representatives and you are invited! No trip to Sacramento required.

The DVBA is sponsoring several bills in this year’s State Legislative Session.

The first of these bills (SB 319) was heard this morning in Senate Governance & Finance Committee.  Testimony was provided by Senator Melendez (Author) and myself (yep – via call in – what a process to be heard) to urge action on transparency in the collection of Mitigation Fees for new development and reporting of usage of said fees.  Agencies are current required to provide a nexus study for collection of those fees and then an annual reporting as required under State law.  This proposed bill would require agencies failing to report under SB1202 (adopted 2018), said agencies would be required to audit each year of failure to report at the agencies expense. Stay tuned as to how this bill progresses through the Legislative Session.

On other news - Now’s your chance to bust out of your house since we’ve moved to the Orange Level (get dressed first please – pants are now required!) and see your peers in the industry!
New Live Events in April – Join us for our Open House at our New Digs aka Office!! – 34360 Gateway Drive, Palm Desert between 3:00 – 5:30 pm…. Lift a bottle of water (or other libation) and check out our new location.

Also, in April we will be holding our semi-annual Blood Drive in Partnership with Lifestream.  This date is April 28th and info is on the DVBA website at: under Calendar Link – register today to give the gift of a blood donation!
We look forward to seeing everyone in person!   … Till then… stay tuned!
