Week 6, Semester 1

Blessings and Prayers for Easter
As we prepare for Easter, may these prayers and blessing help shape your heart, mind and actions.

May the light of Christ, rising in glory, scatter the darkness of your hearts and minds; and may the blessing of God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, rest upon you, and be with you always. Ancient Western Rite for Easter.

O my sweet Saviour, who in  your undeserved love towards us so kindly suffered the painful death of the cross, suffer me not to be cold or lukewarm in love towards you.
Thomas More (1478-1535)

May the God who shakes heave and earth,
whom death could not contain,
who lives to disturb and heal us,
bless you with power to go forth
and proclaim the gospel.
 Janet Morley.

Father,
in your plan of salvation
you Son Jesus Christ accepted the cross
and freed us from the power of the enemy.
May we come to share the glory of his resurrection,
for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
on God, for ever and ever.

Australian Prayer Book.

Not the Kingdom of Death

Christ is risen!

We give thanks for the gift of Easter
that runs beyond our expectations,
beyond our categories of reason,
even more, beyond the sinking sense of our own lives.

We know about the powers of death,
powers that persist among us,
powers that drive us from you, and
from our neighbour, and
from our best selves.

We know about the powers of fear and greed and anxiety,
and brutality and certitude.
powers before which we are helpless.

And then you – you at dawn, unquenched,
you in the darkness,
you on Saturday,
you who breaks the world to joy.

Yours is the kingdom…
not the kingdom of death,
Yours is the power…
not the power of death,
Yours is the glory…
not the glory of death.
Yours…You…and we give thanks
for the newness beyond our achieving.

Amen.

Sydney campus - Student Car
We have just serviced and re-registered a donated 2002 Holden Barina hatchback (5door) to be used by a student or resident in 2021. The student is expected to pay $100.00 per month to the college at the beginning of each month for the use of the car.
  1. The car will continue to belong to Morling College and will remain registered with the college.
  2. The student will have use of the vehicle until start of next year, provided the student remains a Morling College student.
  3. The college will register and insure the vehicle. In the event of an accident where the student is at fault as per the insurer, the student will be required to pay the “excess”.
  4. The vehicle is to be serviced and any costs for additional servicing, petrol, fines and additional tolls are to be borne by the student.
  5. The car is to be driven only by the nominated student.
If you are interested in use of this vehicle please contact Peter McCrindle (peterm@morling.edu.au) and Nali Rajaratnam (Nalir@morling.edu.au).

Do you have a story to tell?Baptist NSW & ACT
Morling is starting a student focused magazine! We would love to include real-life stories/testimonies from students who have something to share with the Morling community. Perhaps you’ve had an unexpected or unusual journey to college that might inspire others. Maybe you have a story about overcoming or coping with significant challenges in your journey as a student. Perhaps you have discovered some important key in your formation for ministry or professional practice? Or maybe you’re already involved in some ministry, mission, church plant or profession that other students might find valuable to hear about.

Contributions between 300 and 1500 words will be gratefully considered, or you can be “interviewed” instead if writing is not your thing. Contact the editor, Morling’s Dean of Students Peter Friend (peterf@morling.edu.au)
