Innovations in Radiotherapy

Our leading monthly industry profile of the latest innovative products and services in radiotherapy.
This month we feature RadPro EXPO – virtual exhibition stands
Way back in 2011 we launched the first ever virtual radiotherapy exhibition called RadPro EXPO! This had a virtual poster and ppt zone, published papers, video and webinar/presentation areas too. Each participating company had a virtual exhibition stand to meet potential customers or users based on a digital map of the exhibit and their stand location.
It allowed anyone, in a cost-effective way to attend meetings from their home, office and public transport especially if they were not able to travel to other cities or countries.
We like to lead and not follow and our EXPO was unique and very popular. This was almost a decade before anyone had ever heard of Covid-19 and the fact that travelling and meeting in large groups was to be essentially banned for health reasons.
Now every congress and exhibition has become virtual and so our USP has been imitated world-wide and our innovative ideas have been seen to be very prescient and ahead of their time!

As a successful  international forum for radiotherapy professionals that focuses on providing companies and organisations working in radiotherapy with an innovative  platform to communicate with existing and potential users we will now offer our partners the option of a 3D virtual exhibition stand on our EXPO corporate directory that will be live and online 24/7 and 365 days per year at a low cost.
Pic: Chatbots are available on all our virtual stands to speak to people who come by!
This will allow you to offer video based product presentations and have our RadPro chatbot available to virtually answer questions either in real time or delayed and sent to you by email along with other features to link to your website and your products and services as we already do with our 2D stands.

Monthly Blog

A radiographer’s life. A 40-year career in radiotherapy.

The October blog written for RadPro by Duncan Hynd

Things we didn’t see coming!
One of the problems with writing blogs and using social media is that developments in the future can come back to bite you!

How wrong you were Jeremy! Or was he?
On the 22nd December 2019 in his final Sunday Times article of the year, Jeremy Clarkson ended by saying the following in relation to the red wall falling to the Conservatives the last election and these voters looking to Boris Johnson to turn back time: “The pound has soared, restaurants are full of people paying £100 per head for lunch, no one’s house has been confiscated and even the most ardent Remainers have now put down their megaphones. It should be a peaceful Christmas, let’s hope so and a happy one too. See you on the flipside”
If you work in radiotherapy it’s a good read.

Question of the month

Since when has our nations “health” been judged purely by the absence of Covid-19?
Is the ‘absence of Covid’ leading us down a path of extreme national self-harm with collateral damage to NHS services including radiotherapy and cancer care, screening, livelihoods, employment, mental health and elderly people hiding away at home being just a few examples.
Why not take part in our latest YouRad Opinion_RT poll where we ask you some important questions such as:
Should radiotherapy be part of a carrot and stick approach to health-care in the UK?
You can take part here.

Did you know?

The definition of “virtual” in the Oxford English dictionary is:
Adjective - Almost or nearly as described, but not completely or according to strict definition ie "the virtual absence of border controls"
Computing - Not physically existing as such but made by software to appear to do so. ie "virtual images"
Optics - relating to the points at which rays would meet if produced backwards.
Mechanics - relating to or denoting infinitesimal displacements of a point in a system.
Physics - denoting particles or interactions with extremely short lifetimes and (owing to the uncertainty principle) indefinitely great energies, postulated as intermediates in some processes.

Editor’s comment
Do you want to write a blog for RadPro or share your current blog with our international radiotherapy readers?
I started my blog for RadPro 18 months ago and write a monthly article called “A Radiographer’s Life, A 40-year career in radiotherapy”. I wanted to document what an amazing varied career radiotherapy offers and to use these stories and anecdotes to try to tempt more people into our profession.
I think they are a good read and document the changes that the last 40 years have seen from a clinical and commercial perspective, being a student to qualifying, working clinically on some interesting old equipment, new developments and some career highs and lows including some good and bad commercial ideas!
I had hoped that some of the radiography professional bodies would share this with their members and perhaps use it to tempt students to embrace radiotherapy but that has not happened as yet but if we can add your blog or your potential blog to RadPro, this might become a more powerful force.
Anyway, as you know our popular international radiotherapy forum RadPro combines the latest News, Opinion and Blog.
If you work in radiotherapy clinically, in the industry or any other area and write a blog or want to write one, please let us know.
We want to share your history, thoughts, ideas for the future and news on our website and so email us on if you are interested!
You can read all my past blogs here.
