Dear Families,

Thanks to all who braved the cold and celebrated our third graders at the Norman Rockwell Museum on March 11. Over 225 Muddy Brook children, parents and grandparents attended. We had a glorious time in activities led by our specialists and the Norman Rockwell Museum staff. Many families also enjoyed Norman Rockwell’s art and the Hanna Barbera exhibit.

Students came back from two snow days for epic storm Stella with great stories of playing in the snow. We’re glad you made it through and are thankful for our buildings and grounds team who did an extraordinary job clearing our parking lots and sidewalks.

We have rescheduled Kindergarten Registration & Open house. It will be Tuesday, March 28, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Please join us!

Librarian Mrs. Melville has been sewing wonderful book bags in her spare time. If your child signs out more books than are easy to carry home, he/she can sign out a bag too! Thank you, Mrs. Melville for supplying us with wonderful books and for making it easy for us to carry them!  Thank you for parent Stacey Oates and local business Peter Fasano (http://peterfasano.com/fabrics) for donating hand silk-screened fabric for this project. Muddy Brook library books travel in style and open wonderful worlds to us. Muddy Brook students love books!

Lucky leprechauns were counting and making mathematical conjectures throughout our school today. Did you know that if you double one factor in a multiplication equation the product will also double? Ask a third or fourth grade leprechaun to prove it! Happy St. Patrick’s day!   Image result for shamrocks clip art

We are grateful for all of the local support that keeps Muddy Brook and our Berkshire Hills Regional School District strong.  Every minute you volunteer in a classroom, help another family, support the PTA, connect with a teacher, or go to a town meeting matters. In our budget conversations as a faculty, with our administrative team, with our school council, our school committee, and with families, our goal remains to think about our spending as a direct reflection of our values. We’re eager to be in conversation with you about how we spend resources and how local, state, and federal resources contribute to our school functioning.  Our next School Council meeting is April 5 at 8 a.m. Please join us to discuss our local school budget and the proposed federal budget.

Cheers to all,

Mary Berle, Principal
Our librarian, Mrs. Melville, has been sewing ‘book bags’ for helping students carry armloads of books home!  Here she is modeling one of the 20 we have so far. More will be coming as they’re in constant demand.  The bags also help students keep their books organized for responsible returning.  Thanks to Mrs. Oates for helping with fabric donations, and to Mrs. Melville’s stash of quilting leftovers.
