We had a wonderful week and there’s more excitement to come.
Prekindergarten through grade one students are still talking about the Mahaiwe Field trip to see Brown Bear, Brown Bear based on the book by Eric Carle. We’re grateful to the Mahaiwe for donating the entire cost of the field trip including buses. The Berkshire United Way, another wonderful community partner, donated a book for every student in attendance.
The Berkshire Latin United Dancers had all of us cheering and clapping at our All School on Wednesday. Students Juliette Cando, Gabriella Lopez, Lupita Reyes, Dionisio Mendoza, and Dennis Mendoza were absolutely wonderful! Beginning band students played hot cross buns for us with George Wallace keeping the beat on the bass drum.
Please come to Campfire Night tonight! This will be a wonderful family event with s’mores, singing, dancing, storytelling, a moonlit hike and a warm campfire. The PTA is accepting donations to support field trips and all are warmly invited regardless of ability to donate. Campfire Night runs from 6 – 8 p.m. We're grateful for our friends at the wonderful and local Taft Farms for donating cider!
Another big thanks goes to he local company, Peter Fasano Design. Fabric and hand printed rolls of hand silk screened wall paper, also seen in fancy places including The White House, are now materials we'll be using for creative projects school wide. Thank you to Muddy Brook parent, Stacy Oates, for visioning, organizing, and delivering this incredible donation.
We’re looking forward to seeing you at parent conferences on October 20 and 21. Please connect with your classroom teacher if you haven’t signed up yet. Our goal is to be in a two-way conversation with you about ways we can partner to best support your child’s growth and development. Specialists, SPED teachers, Assistant Principal Nan Thompson and I will all be on hand and eager to touch base with you also.

Volunteering for the Fair is easy and fun! We need people to handle the cash registers, and we need people to help children write wish lists and spend their money wisely. Many children don’t know how to recognize the pricing on books and need help, some need help keeping their purchases to their financial limit, others need guidance selecting. Please come and be part of this family friendly event!
Volunteers are still very badly needed for:
Tuesday morning from 9-10:35,
Wednesday from 11:35-4
Thursday from 11:35 till 8 pm.
Congratulations to Ms. Silk’s class for handing in 540 box tops last challenge!!!!! The winning class enjoyed a beautiful fall walk and freshly pressed warn apple cider. Mrs. Scarboro’s class came in second, and Mrs. Flynn’s class came in third. Thank you to everyone who handed in box tops! In just one month, we made 30% of our goal for the year. Hurray Muddy Brook!
A very special thank you to Marc Hochler who earned Muddy Brook $500.00 just by signing onto the box top website and entering into a sweepstakes!! Anyone can enter, just go to www.btfe.com roll over ‘earn box tops’ and click on ‘sweepstakes.’ It’s that easy!
This is our second contest. Please hand in all box tops to your child’s teacher or in the box in the front office. If you do hand it in in the front office, please make sure you put your child’s teachers name on it so the classroom can get credit. You can either glue or tape the box tops to the opposite side, or hand them in in a plastic bag.
Please also hand in any Labels for Education. From now on I will be counting them in the challenges so handing them in will raise the chance of your child’s classroom winning. The Labels program is coming to an end, and they will be accepting Labels until August 2017. You can visit their website www.labelsforeducation.com to see participating products.
