Dear Families,
We’ve had a great week of coming back together and embracing routines following the break. Students seem genuinely happy to be back.
The big news at Muddy Brook is students voted and we are now officially the Muddy Brook Coyotes. Bears came in a close second. The third party candidate, Owls, had a strong showing with 88 votes. Where the bears and owls had very active campaigns, the coyotes were less active on the campaign trail.  One theory is the owls and bears split their vote. In any case there was no shortage of excitement and we are glad to embrace the coyote as our new mascot!  In the coming months we will develop a logo and designs for Muddy Brook spirit wear. If you have ideas for a logo and would like to participate in this effort please contact me via email at  PTA President Adrienne Rynes and I will invite you to a meeting in the coming weeks to establish a process and timeline.
This week our third graders and their teachers took a field trip to the Norman Rockwell Museum. Students had an amazing experience seeing the collection, wearing white gloves and examining artifacts and original Saturday Evening Post magazines from 80 years ago, and viewing the collection including the current Hanna Barbera exhibit. We are extremely grateful to the museum staff for making us feel so welcome, and for supporting all of our third graders. Thanks also to parent chaperones who joined us!
Yours truly,
Mary Berle, Principal
