Well, the excitement about the new decade being 2020 has certainly worn off quickly. Here we are facing a pandemic and all the anxiety and fear it brings with it. I find myself picking up my pens and paint to feel creative and calm.
|

|
|
I actually had the flu after the January tradeshow and now wonder if it was the CoronaVirus. I seemed to have the symptoms, but this happened just before the news broke.
|
|
|
I'm trying to look at the positive side of things and not feel like everything is out of control. Maybe with spending more time a home and in isolation, we can sit down and get creative with art, lettering, and crafts.

|
|
At the end of February, I taught a workshop of 50 people in Dixon, California, at It's All About the Scrapbook. This store is huge and the classroom and is even bigger! We had a fantastic day of lettering!
|
|
|
I have a bunch of NEW Watercolor Lettering workshops lined up in the next few months: Olando, Dallas, Costa Rica, and Toronto but I'm uncertain about them being rescheduled. We will figure workshop dates out whenever the pandemic subsides and if you signed up for any of them, you will be contacted if class is cancelled.

TIP OF THE MONTH: Improve your control by drawing your ascenders and descenders with increasingly larger loops. Think 'small' ...'medium'....'large' loops. Write them very close together and keep the same slant.

Ascender & Descender Loops are a lot harder than they seem. Try changing the size of your loops with this tracing sheet. Practice with your large brush tip pens, like the Dream pens, and small brush tips, like the Kelly Creates Multicolor Small Brush pens. (NOTE: This worksheet is available on my website as a free download. Remember to always print onto smooth LaserJet paper or use Kelly Creates tracing paper on top of regular copy paper)
