Paris, Pens, & Problems!

One week in Paris was not enough...but it was also too much. Shipment problems, Notre Dame on fire, and jet lag made this trip an unforgettable experience.
I think it's important for everyone to hear about 'behind the scenes' when I travel and teach workshops. Along with the excitement and joy of meeting so many wonderful people all over the world, there can be many stressful moments too. At Version Scrap, an annual 3-day scrapbooking and paper crafting event in Paris (and Lyon), I taught 3 workshops a day for 3 days. Why did I schedule this many workshops over this period of time? It was so tiring. Lesson learned.
Before I even left for Paris, I had so many deadlines to meet. Then the day before my departure, I received emails from Paris saying my boxes of workshop supplies that had been shipped from the States were being held in customs and wouldn't be delivered. After some 2 am phone calls and paying fees of hundreds of dollars, my supply boxes were released and delivered to the event venue the day before my classes.
Time in the classroom with so many kind, generous students....plus lots and lots of croissants made up for everything that went wrong.
One of the highlights of this trip was having a private art class with Pauline Fraisse, a Parisian artist who has traveled the world and creates amazing sketches with ink and watercolor.  (Pentalic Aqua Journal and Sakura Koi Field Sketch Box 24)
After 3 free days and countless pastries, I flew home with a full heart, feeling like all the stress and difficult moments involved with organizing workshops & travel are definitely worth it.
Plus, this guy was waiting for me in Canada and made me feel so grateful for both traveling and coming home.
Are you as excited as I am about my new pens and colors? So many of you have been asking about them. Well, we will have to let the anticipation continue to build because the manufacturing has been delayed. I'm hoping my new pens will be available in June. Fingers crossed.
Have you ever thought about spending an entire weekend doing lettering? I would love for you to join me in Kentucky at Ephemera Paducah for an exclusive 3-day workshop event! We will fill our days with relaxing lettering, calligraphy and watercolor. Spend some time away from home for a special, art-filled weekend. CLICK HERE or below for registration details.

At the beginning of April, I had a fantastic time in California teaching at the Expo and working in the Creative Scrapbooker magazine booth.  Meeting people, writing names, and connecting in real life is what makes my job worthwhile. These workshops sold out, so don't wait if you're thinking about registering for Orlando! I will be teaching 2 beginner brush lettering classes there.
