Greenlight for Connections Project Reset

The Connections Project Delivery Plan was endorsed at the Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) water forum in Rochester last night. From left is VFF President David Jochinke, Connections Project Director Frank Fisseler and Minister for Water Lisa Neville.

Message from the Project Director

Today the Minister for Water, the Hon. Lisa Neville, announced the Connections Project Reset Delivery Plan has been endorsed by the Victorian and Commonwealth governments.

This news is the final step in the reset journey which started in March.

The endorsement and release of the plan provides more certainty for landowners across the Goulburn-Murray Irrigation District and outlines the channel by channel, fit for purpose approach that many of you discussed with us at the community consultation sessions earlier this year.
The plan will achieve the required water savings, meaning that no water will be taken from the irrigator’s consumptive pool.

The Connections Project is the key to ensuring water provided to the environment is delivered through infrastructure, not buybacks.

A new landowner engagement model is a vital part of the Connections Project Reset Delivery Plan.

The project team will be communicating with all affected landowners by the end of the month to let them know about the expected timing of works in their area. The project timelines have also been extended to October 2020.

The Reset Delivery Plan has been developed to address all previous project reviews and reports with clearly articulated lessons learned and actions to be undertaken as well as some that are already underway, to ensure the mistakes of the past are not repeated.

Everyone now has access to a new web portal – My Connections Update - via our website that will allow you to see the details and status of the work in your local area and on your channel. I encourage you to take the time to log on and view the new portal.

Minister Neville announced the reset plan at the Victorian Farmers Federation water forum (VFF) in Rochester.

Thank you for all of your feedback throughout the reset process. We are all looking forward to getting on with the job of delivering the project and achieving the water savings target that has been set for us.

You can continue to send me your feedback and ideas to

Frank Fisseler
