Epimediums: The go-to perennial for a woodland setting or shady bed.

Durable, long-lived and easily cultivated, Epimediums unfurl winsome heart-shaped foliage and intricate origami-like flowers. Many of their leaves are infused with bold mottling, while their wiry stems present graceful blossoms, in colors ranging from starry white to lemon, amber or ruby red, plus rose, lilac and purple.

Envision Fresh Beginnings
It’s raining, it’s pouring! Nearly 50 inches of rain has moistened the garden here at Digging Dog and we’re anticipating a fantastic gardening year! Over 40% of California is officially out of the drought, which is great news for the Golden State.

During our stroll through the garden this morning, we were thrilled to discover all of the swelling buds, new shoots, bright green foliage and early blossoms. These welcome signs of spring are so full of promise and a real boost to a gardener’s spirit. We’ve featured a few of our favorites.
