Welcome to the May issue of Golfing NSW.

Thank you to everyone who entered our "Name that Golf Course" Competition. The correct answer was Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club - the new home of the 2017 NSW Open Championship. Our lucky winner, who takes home a Sporte Leisure rain jacket and matching trousers, valued at $329.00 is Jannine Smith from Lynwood Country Club. Well done Jannine.

We are so proud of our NSW State Teams, who competed in the Australian Teams Interstate Championship over the last couple of weeks. What a talented group of young individuals, and wonderful ambassadors for our sport. This month, we start a series of quick golfing tips from the teams - guaranteed to help you on course.

Test yourself on the history of golf in our new feature, History Nuggets, brought to you by The Australian Golf Heritage Society.

And last, but by no means least, this month, we have another great prize from Srixon on a pair of ASICS golf shoes, plus 2 dozen golf balls, valued at up to $428.00.

Thank you again to Srixon for their sponsorship of our February competition. Kerryn Coldrey from Bardwell Valley Golf Club was our lucky winner of a brand new Srixon Golf Bag, just for sharing our newsletter with a friend. Kerryn chose to wait for the brand new range to arrive in the country, and she's glad she did.
Thank you to Greg Imber from Srixon for presenting Kerryn with her great prize.

The 2017 Srixon NSW Mid-Amateur Championship is an event open to players over 30 years of age and was played this week at Tocumwal Golf Club.

Harrison "Harro" Endycott is a member of both our NSW Men's State Team and High Performance Squad. He hails from Avondale Golf Club and his form of late has been stellar. He brings us the first tip in our new series - how to get out of deep rough around the green. Check out Harrison's quick tip, filmed at the new home of the 2017 NSW Open Championship - Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club.

It's coming soon! The brand new website for Golf NSW is on it's way and will launch at the end of this month.
The new look is clean and fresh, and easy to navigate.
It's also mobile friendly, so much clearer to read on your phone or tablet.
Things have moved around a little, but we hope you'll love it and look forward to your feedback.

Are you from the Country? Do you have a handicap of 9.4 or less?

If so, you are eligible to play in the 2017 NSW Country Championship at Goulburn Golf Club, and on August 14th, you could be holding the trophy like last year's winner, Anthony Brunero from The Links Shell Cove.

Welcome to a new feature - History Nuggets, from Dr Michael Sheret.
This month's questions are:

1. Which is the oldest golf club in Australia, still operating as a golf club today?
2. The picture to the left is captioned "St Andrews 1800", is a hand-coloured engraving by Lawrence Josset. Can you spot a glaring historical error?
