House Select Committee on School Safety creates two working groups

It is an honor to be appointed to the House Select Committee on School Safety. The committee has been split into two working groups  to narrow the focus and to get into specifics of the issues facing school safety in NC. The working groups are Student Health and Student Physical Safety & Security. I am part of the Student Health Working Group. We will be examining issues including counselor to student ratio, reporting of threats, and ways to identify students with mental health needs. Recommendations from the working groups and the full committee are expected before short session begins in May.

NC is #9 in the Nation for Wage Growth
The economic outlook for NC is very strong from many different indicators. Tax reform efforts have created one of the best business climates we have seen in decades. Low unemployment and  job creation has created an environment of wage growth. Speaker Moore had his letter to the editor at the Washington Times published. The topic is “Wage Growth + Tax Relief are a Winning Combination for North Carolina’s Citizens.”

313,000 New Jobs in February, Job Growth Strongest Since President Trump’s Election
Job growth was the strongest since President Trump’s election, with 313,000 jobs created in the month of February. The non-stop job creation since the election has yielded 2.9 million jobs. For the fifth month in a row, the unemployment rate remained at 4.1%, a 17-year low. Goods-producing industries such as manufacturing, mining and logging, and construction collectively had the highest month-to-month growth since 1998. These were among many sectors experiencing significant growth.
