News from Bexhill Friends of the Down
So far in 2022 we have planted 39 trees already on the Down (see photo above from 15thJanuary). On this tree planting day we also picked up over a bagful of large spent fireworks which were scattered around the new tree area. We do have one more pack of 105 trees coming from the Woodland Trust in late February, so we will arrange a date for that closer to the time. Thanks to all our volunteers who helped with trees and litter picking, and please see below for our next dates
Litter-picking twice a month on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.
Next dates are: Wed 9 & 23 February 9:30am to 11am approx
meet at 9:30am opposite the Athletic Club. I will bring the wheelbarrow with litter grabbers, rings and bags - please bring your own gloves.
Tree care: twice a month on the Saturdays following the litter-pick.
Next dates are: Wed 12 & 26 February 9:30am to 11am approx
meet at 9:30am by the bench below King Offa Wood (near King Offa Nursery), wear gardening gloves, waterproof boots, ground is wet). Please bring shears or a battery strimmer if you have one. We are clearing grass from the base of the new trees and mulching.
