LEARN ABOUT INNOVATIVE PROJECTS FOR NUTRITION PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

 In 2017, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) issued a funding opportunity for the Innovations in Nutrition Programs and Services grant. This grant aimed to support systematic testing and documentation of innovative and promising practices that would enhance the quality, effectiveness and proven outcomes of nutrition programs within the aging services network. From across the nation, a cohort of six grantees was selected to receive this funding.

Join the National Resource Center for Nutrition and Aging (NRCNA) for a two-part webinar – to be held on October 17 and October 24 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. EDT – where attendees will have the opportunity to hear exciting information from each of these ACL grantees about their innovative nutrition projects currently in action across the country. Attendees will also receive guidance for how to potentially replicate these initiatives in their own communities, as well as hear about key lessons learned from implementing this work.

IN THESE WEBINARS, YOU WILL:
  • Hear firsthand insights from a variety of senior nutrition programs about their experience with implementing innovative new services and efforts;
  • Explore promising practices that can increase use of evidence-informed approaches within senior nutrition programs to enhance impact on client health and well-being; and,
  • Gain an understanding of how senior nutrition programs of any size can adapt an innovative programming approach to meet their current operational and staffing needs.

Leveraging Big Data for Big Results

Date: Thursday, October 18th
Time: 3:30-4:30 pm EDT
Cost: Free
At this year's Conference, attendees learned how Meals on Wheels America Member program VNA Texas collaborated with PricewaterhouseCoopers on an innovative "virtual twin" data project. Together, these organizations were able to leverage existing program, public and literature data to conduct an innovative analysis to simulate health savings realized for seniors receiving Meals on Wheels versus those who do not.

Join the Meals on Wheels Leadership Academy on Thursday, October 18 to revisit how the results have enabled VNA Texas to provide evidence for the positive health outcomes and cost savings their services provide – a benefit for not only the seniors served, but also the community at large.

You will learn how you can mine and leverage public data and your program's existing client data to replicate this approach, quantify the impact of your organization and use this information to better support your fundraising efforts.

Even if you attended the Lightning Learning session in Charlotte, this 60-minute webinar will provide a deeper understanding for those interested in more information.

IN THIS WEBINAR, YOU WILL:

  • Understand quantitative approaches to documenting the impact that your program can have on the health and well-being of the clients you serve;
  • Explore what kind of data can be leveraged and how to do it;
  • Learn who you can engage to support such an effort; and
  • Walk away with ideas for using this information to support fundraising and partnerships.
