Meals on Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County Wins
Innovators In Aging Award from HHSC

Congratulations to Meals on Wheels Texas President Barbara Lundgren and Meals on Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County for winning one of the first ever Innovators in Aging awards from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission! The HHSC’s awards program, now in its first year, recognizes five recipients for developing and carrying out new and innovative ideas in communities across the state that meet the needs of older adults.

Meals on Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County created an innovative care coordination pilot program to successfully navigate aging clients through the complex continuum of care without traditional health care reimbursements.

“Every day across the state many people and organizations are quietly working to improve the lives of older Texans. It is important that we recognize them for their contributions and that we encourage others to take innovative actions,” said Holly Riley, Aging Services Coordination Manager for HHSC.

DON'T MISS OUT ON A MEALS ON WHEELS LOVES PETS GRANT

SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION BY MAY 31

The 2019 Meals on Wheels Loves Pets grant cycle closes next Friday, May 31 at 5:00 p.m. EDT. These grants are designed to help you offset some of the costs involved in sustaining an existing pet support program or starting a new one, so that you can better serve your seniors and their furry companions.

Applications must be submitted through our Online Grants Management System (login required). You can start your application at any time and save as you go.

Need-based grants of up to $2,500 will be awarded to eligible Member programs. Funding can be used toward a variety of client pet support expenses, such as pet food and storage, veterinary services, pet supplies, temporary boarding expenses and gas for volunteers to deliver pet food.

GRANT DETAILS
In an effort to encourage sustainability, Meals on Wheels Loves Pets grants will match funds raised up to $2,500 for applicants with pet assistance programs that have been in existence for longer than one year. The funds need to have been raised between June 1, 2018 and May 31, 2019. Member programs with an existing pet assistance program that do not have fundraising amounts or in-kind donations will not receive grants.
