Building back better but pausing on the minibus service🚐

This newsletter we are tricking or are we treating you to a handful of information?! Everything you need to know about our minibuses, round 1 of ADF, giving us consent feedback and accessing spaces.

The Union has become aware of a recall from the manufacturers of the majority of our minibus fleet, this means for the next two weeks we will be running a reduced fleet with only our ford transit minibuses CTO & KYW. We will be having to cancel all up coming bookings for other minibuses until at least the 14th November whilst we try and get them fixed. If you have a booking you will receive an emailing in the coming week regarding the cancellation of your bookings. Apologies for the inconvenience but it is not safe to use our other minibuses at this time.

We realise there have been groups experiencing problems with space access around the Union Building. We do have a new process that relies on committee members submitting our Space Access Request Form throughout the year.

These access requests will be updated every Tuesday by the Union. This is reliant on the card office processing our requests which can take up to 48 hours. We therefore aim all requests to be processed by Thursday 5pm latest each week.

Any secure card access (keys collected at security) will be updated by Tuesday 5pm. In the past, we have had many lost keys/key cards during the year and will therefore be changing the way we track checking cards out. Any member collecting a key will be asked to leave their college ID card at the security office until returned.

The Union recently released consent training for all CSP Leaders as an outcome of our officers CSP Culture Review Project. We have received an incredible amount of engagement with this course and some of our CSPB members have started getting feedback from you all on this and have asked us to create a feedback form for you all to fill in.

Your feedback on training like this is super important. This form will be open until the end of November and we will editing the training and quiz content over December. We will re-launch the training in January and all of our committee members will need to recomplete the updated training content to continue with system access.

Thank you to all who applied for the Activity Development Fund (ADF) Round 1, we received a record number of applications. We had 63 applications asking for over £110,000 collectively. Due to the high volume of applications Everyone who applied will receive the outcome of their application by next Wednesday.

This round in total we have allocated £17,783 to 36 CSP’s!

For those interested in applying for Round 2 the deadline is Sunday 20th November.

The Activities Team have been receiving a number of complaints from building managers at the college regarding our CSP room bookings. Common themes coming out of these complaints are specifically concerning room set up, space misuse and noise complaints.

Building managers responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of these rooms, are having to reset tables/chairs to their original set up each morning before teaching. Due to the work involved rearranging these rooms, they are threatening to remove these spaces from the bookable spaces list.

We need to correct this immediately so we can continue using these college spaces and developing our improved relationship with college staff. We are asking you to PLEASE ensure that you put these rooms back properly. We are going to start being stricter with issuing strikes to CSP's on these issues and removing the ability for your groups to book rooms to preserve the ability for other groups to continue using the spaces they need.
