We have multiple items this week: In addition to a Stadium Rehearsal on Wednesday (Chaperones + Rig/Props), there’s a football game on Friday (Chaperones, Rig/Props, Concessions) and on Saturday we have the UIL contest and send-off. There are openings for each event -- we need your help. This may be the most intense week of the year.
The good news for UIL concessions is that we drew the early slot (windows open at 7:00AM) which means we are done in time to go to LEE for send-off and then watch the kids perform. Concessions will take 8-12 people at a time, and we broke up the 4 hours into two shifts. The bad news is that we need concessions volunteers early in the morning. Keep in mind we can brew coffee at concessions (I know I’ll be having a cup).
For UIL send-off, the family that grilled over 300 hot dogs at Yamaha cup will also grill burgers for us at LEE (thanks!). We will be updating the food donation sign-up ASAP. If you signed up to grill at home, we will still need your help at LEE to help grill, wrap, and serve. While I don’t like to change plans, this is well worth it.

Come out and support LEE band at Willie’s on 23rd of October! We will be at the Willie’s on 1604 and N.W. Military next to Academy. Please tell your server that you are here to support the LEE band for us to get the 15% donation from your bill. Also Mark your calendar for our Kenda Scott event on 20th of November. Just in time for holiday shopping. Come into the store at the Quarry between 6:00 and 8:00pm and 20% of your purchase will be given back to the LEE band.
Come by and pick up your spirit shirts for the UIL competition! How awesome for our kiddos to look up at Hero Stadium to see a sea of Red and Grey shirts supporting them! Thank you Amy Mills and Elaine Miller for helping me at the Churchill game on Saturday night. I know it was hard to leave the competition after making finals.
FROM MR. ESCOBEDO
CONGRATULATIONS to the Lee Band for placing first in group four taking visual and overall effect and fifth in finals. The staff and I are extremely proud of all of the students for all of their hard work. It is super exciting going into our UIL week. I want to thank all of the parents for all of their hard work and support over the last several weeks. The success of the band would not be there without all of you.
This week we will be getting ready for our most important show of the season, UIL contest. This is one of my favorite contests of the season because this is the one that gets archived in the books. The band will not be competing against anyone else except themselves. The staff and I feel very confident in the students and are hoping for another great run. We will also be having our second and last stadium rehearsal of the season at Heroes Stadium. If you haven’t had a chance to see the show, please come out on Wednesday to see the students perform in full uniform starting at 8pm.
We going into the 9th week of school where all students once again must be passing all of their classes by the end of the day Friday so they can stay eligible for the remainder of the season. UIL day will be a special day for all students. Our parents like to provide a special meal and decorate the band hall with pictures throughout the season. We are really looking forward to this day. Let’s have another great week.. GO VOLS!!
