Extending the BEC2050 Scenarios 

In light of the Government's desire to develop a stable of energy sector targets, the BusinessNZ Energy Council has commenced a deep-dive of its previously released BEC2050 energy scenarios work to help inform the targets under developments. We'll keep you informed as this work progresses.

Climate negotiators have to learn more about energy transformation

EECA Business Partnership Programme to achieve additional carbon reductions of 55,000 tonnes each year and $26M in energy cost savings for businesses!

A group of businesses, whose energy use amounts to 40% of total NZ business energy use, is now in energy management partnerships with EECA  - up from 30% last year. Once implemented, these partnerships are expected to achieve additional carbon reductions of 55,000 tonnes each year and save $26M in energy cost savings for the businesses.
Since launching its business programme in 2014, EECA has formed multi-year energy management partnerships with around 85 of the most energy-intensive businesses in New Zealand.  The partnerships involve identifying and realising savings through support for energy audit, business case development, feasibility study funding, building performance advice, energy systems optimisation and the NABERSNZ rating tool. EECA estimates that on average, businesses can cost-effectively reduce energy use by up to 20% every year by improving processes and upgrading equipment.
