Huntly Power Station

Genesis Energy and other electricity generators have entered into contracts that will keep the two coal/gas fired Rankine Units at the Huntly Power Station available to the electricity market until December 2022, an extension of the previously announced closure date of 2018.
 

Electric Vehicle Partnership Programme

Hon Simon Bridges, Minister of Transport will announce the Government's new electric vehicle package on 5th May. The package will help to enhance New Zealand's e-mobility market. Click here to find out details on the 5th May.


175 countries signing climate agreement

On 22 April, the Paris climate agreement was signed by 175 countries in New York, showing worldwide commitment to tackle the threat of global warming.
 

Queensland wins $16million biofuels plant

Queensland is claiming a major victory over NSW after securing a $16 million biofuels plant which could have been built in the NSW centre of Wagga Wagga.

More than half of the world's new renewables generation capacity in 2015 was installed in Asia, which now has 40% of total renewables capacity.

Thailand is going to increase its share of renewable energy to 30% of final energy consumption in 2036, versus 8% today.
