Preparing for Storm Season
As we move out of Winter, storm season is fast approaching. Council is urging local residents to begin storm season preparations. Some key steps to take include keeping an emergency contact list handy and trimming branches and vegetation from your property. To assist with these preparations, Council is offering 3 free green waste weekends on 23-24 September, 7-8 October and 21-22 October.

Local community heroes!
Earlier this month, volunteers from World Mission Society Church of God completed their 3874th Worldwide Cleanup at Hidden World Playground in Fitzgibbon! This playground is one of the best in Brisbane and is extremely popular with local residents. The playground and surrounds are now looking better than ever. It was my pleasure to meet some of the World Mission Society team to congratulate them on their hard work and dedication to the cleanliness of Brisbane.
 Facts about Bracken Ridge Ward
Bracken Ridge State High School is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, after officially opening its classrooms on January 22 1967. Pictured above are students marching under the school's former name, Nashville State High School. In 2001, the school became formally known as Bracken Ridge State High School in recognition of the school's growing presence in Bracken Ridge.

The 50th Anniversary Celebration will take place on Saturday 2nd September with an afternoon packed full of great activities including fireworks, rides & games, food trucks and live music. For more information, a flyer is included at the bottom of this newsletter.
