Imam Monawar Hussain, Founder, The Oxford Foundation, has issued the following statement following the attack on a church in Nice, France:
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the appalling, cowardly and despicable attack, on a church in Nice, France, which has left three people dead.  My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and friends.
“I want to be clear and I know this may be stating the obvious, but under the current circumstances necessary, that under Islamic law, Muslims must abide by the laws of the countries they are citizens of.  Period.  That is how the majority live their lives, as law-abiding, decent, human beings and fellow citizens. However, those who unleash terroristic violence on innocent people, do so acting as criminals and murderers, and not in the name of Islam or fellow Muslims.
“At a time of a global pandemic that has already resulted in the loss of almost 1.2 million lives globally, we must all work tirelessly for the common good, of shared values rooted in our shared humanity, of love and kindness, not hate, violence and division.”
