 Just Ask JP

"When is it better to use concrete versus asphalt, and vice versa, for commercial locations?"

                                       Concrete                                                    Asphalt
Quality
Durability                          25+ Years                                                   3+ Years
Cost                                 $ - $$$$                                                        $ - $$
Traffic                           Light - Heavy                                               Light - Mild
Benefits                        Long Lasting                                             Room to Grow
Drawbacks                         Price                                                     Maintenance
Usage                              Industrial                                                      Retail
JP's Rating                       Wisest                                                      Cheapest

"Concrete is always the stronger and longer lasting option when compared to asphalt. Although concrete may be more expensive than asphalt, it depends greatly on the size of the project. Asphalt can be great for large parking lots, as it is a more affordable option, but if you are expecting heavy truck or semi traffic - concrete is your best choice. Concrete can handle large vehicles turning around and backing up, while asphalt would be damaged by this type of traffic. For lighter traffic or passenger vehicles, asphalt or concrete would be suitable. All in all, concrete is the wisest choice for commercial parking lots due to the minimal maintenance that is needed, but if your company is looking to move or expand in the future asphalt is your best route as it allows your business room to change and grow."
