Terry Pettus Park Boulder Ribbon Cutting
There was an excellent turnout of 50 - 60 people on Saturday for the unveiling of the plaque at Terry Pettus Park. Dixie Pintler's (manager of the Terry Pettus trust) son, Bill Johnson, acted as MC and introduced the speakers:
- John de Graff who produced the documentary "Subversive?”, spoke about his experience with Terry with some stories we had not heard before that got a lot of laughs.
- Howard Droker author of “Seattle’s Unsinkable Houseboats” spoke about Terry and his time with him in writing the book, and what a remarkable man he was and all he did for the City of Seattle, and more.
- Ann Prezyna and Chris Lehman from the Eastlake Community Council spoke about Terry’s help with Eastlake in the beginning years.
I have uploaded photographs and speeches from the event to our website's new Terry Pettus page. I also uploaded John de Graaf's first documentary, 'Subversive?' which is all about Terry Pettus and his role in founding the Floating Homes Association. In addition, there was considerable interest in interpretive signage, explaining more about Terry's contribution to Seattle and his many other accomplishments, which the FHA hopes to work with Dixie and the City to provide.
