Seattle Night Out
The FHA is happy to encourage participation in the upcoming Seattle Night Out. Our social committee chair is going to arrange some kegs for docks that want them for Night Out, which is planned for August 6th this year. If you would like free beer (and let's face it, who wouldn't!) please send Tom Campbell the following information:

  • Dock name/address
  • Contact name and phone# for drop offs

He will need a $75 deposit check at the drop off, only to be cashed in case of lost equipment or keg damage. Tom's email address is dthomascampbell@gmail.com and his phone number is (970) 618-9442. You can find out more about Seattle Night Out on the city's website here.

SR 99 Aurora Bridge Painting and Paving
A message from Tom Pearce | WSDOT communications | 206-440-4696

LIBERTY MAINTENANCE HAS FINISHED PAINTING THE BRIDGE! Well, actually they finished the major part of painting. They’ll still be doing touch-ups by hand, but that doesn’t require a containment system, so you’ll see that coming down in the coming weeks. That said, there’s still a lot happening with the project:

Night work - The work on the underside of the bridge is winding down, which means all the equipment under the bridge and the platform are being removed. Over land, this is happening Mondays through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. to limit the effect on traffic. Once the crews are over the lake, the workers will remove the equipment during the day. There’s a lot of stuff up there, so it will take a few months.

Rivet busting - Yep, they’re back replacing rivets on the bridge during the day. It’s noisy, but the crews won’t bust rivets overnight. Again, once they replace a rivet, they hand-paint it, so they don’t need the containment system.

Paving - Lakeside Industries still needs to pave the north half of the bridge. With some big events during the next few weeks, the paving is scheduled to resume the weekend of Aug. 10-11. The crews will reduce the bridge to one lane in each direction beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, and have all lanes reopened by 5 a.m. Monday Aug. 12. That’s all for now. If you have questions, please let me know.
