Advancing Real Change, Inc. promotes justice
by ensuring that the life histories of people charged with crimes
are at the forefront of their cases.
Who: The ARC, Inc. team and you
What: A hike of a half-mile or more
Where: Wherever you are
When: Saturday, June 29 or Sunday, June 30
Why: Enjoy nature, get fun swag, and support ARC, Inc.'s juvenile justice programming

It's almost time to hit the trail for ARC, Inc.'s inaugural "Steps Towards Justice" Hike-a-Thon! Getting involved is easy - here's how:
  1. Decide when and where you want to hike. Your location can be anything from a forest trail to a walk around your neighborhood.
  2. Sign up here to join an existing hike or start one of your own.
  3. Spread the word - invite friends and family to pledge to support your hike, join you, or even start their own hike where they live. We'll create a customized giving page for you to make it easy.
  4. Take a hike! On the last weekend in June, get your steps in on your own or with friends. Track your total steps with a fitness app, pedometer, or just by tracking your mileage and doing a little math (1,000 steps = a half mile). Be sure to take photos, especially of you and your team in your Steps Towards Justice swag.
If you're more comfortable showing your support from somewhere other than a hiking trail, you can get involved by supporting our hikers - you can make a gift for every thousand steps they take on the path towards justice. Meet the hikers to find out the details of their hike and what inspired them to get involved.

Did we mention the swag? Every person who raises or gives at least $25 for this event will receive a "Steps Towards Justice" sweatband. It's our way of saying thanks, and a great way to show your solidarity out on the hiking trail.

Why hike? The proceeds from this event will support ARC, Inc.'s juvenile justice programming. Our work in this area includes providing mitigation services to those at risk of being sentenced to life without parole for offenses that occurred when they were children or who have received such a sentence and now have a chance at returning to the community. Our work also involves training, consulting, and outreach to improve the quality of mitigation in juvenile cases across the country.
