Summary Thought
When you maliciously attack another believer in order to slander and and criticize, just remember who you’re doing it to, one for whom Christ died, one who is His own elect, and so doing you offend God, you offend the holy angels, you offend Christ, you offend the Holy Spirit who dwells in them, to say nothing of offending them.
John MacArthur

Scripture Text for Sunday Morning

James 4:11–12

Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.  There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

Discussion Questions
Does James reject all judgment?

Why is it so wrong to speak against or judge a brother or sister in Christ?

What then should be the rule that guides our speaking to and about our brothers and sisters in Jesus?

How does this passage point us to our need for Christ’s grace?

30 Days of Prayer, November 2019… We invite you to join us in devoting the month of November to prayer for global missions, especially for those who serve in difficult or restricted-access areas. PCA Mission to the World has provided a prayer calendar for download at mtw.org/30dop with a prayer request for each day, including an entry for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church on November 3. There are copies of the prayer calendar on the information table in the narthex. You can also follow MTW on Instagram @mtwglobal, where MTW will post these requests throughout the month of November. Your prayers are critical for the growth of the worldwide Church! Thank you for joining us in prayer.

Secretary’s hours… As Brenda has been cleared to return to her job as a Paramedic, her office hours will now vary from week to week. There is a white board calendar to her office door with her weekly office hours noted. Brenda will keep permanent hours of 9:00 am—12:00 pm, each Friday. Please feel free to email any announcements or other requests to lepc@iw.net, leave a voicemail on the office phone, or text her on her cell.
