CISC FALL EVENT RECAP

On Monday, October 17th CISC held its fall event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Knoxville. Seventy industry representatives and educators gathered to hear speakers from Cisco, Baker Donelson, ORNL, Intel, and a panel of CIO/CEOs from the heathcare industry. The event premiered and demonstrated the CISC Member Portal powered by Service Now. The portal will contain a knowledge base, threat awareness information, and be a communication tool for all CISC members. Watch for more information on this great value. For details about the event including the agenda, visit CISC's EVENTS web page.
CISC NEW MISSION & MEMBERSHIP

At the CISC Fall Event Dennis Corley presented CISC's new mission, vision, and objectives and the revised membership tiers. These documents were updated with input from many interested companies that asked for specific goals and company size related levels. IN CASE YOU WERE ASKING...WHY CISC?

Cybersecurity help now – The near term CISC objectives and work plan include immediate benefits in peer-to-peer communications and information sharing, workforce development, and education of policy makers and the public.

Community investment – The cybersecurity challenge is a long-term battle. Joining the team and strengthening the effort is partly about being a good corporate citizen but it also increases the strength of your own individual efforts.

Recruitment investment – A strong cybersecurity ecosystem will consist of a strong pipeline of talented people. Developing that pipeline in your own backyard is a cost-effective recruitment strategy. Membership costs are likely less than the fees to hire one cybersecurity professional.
