Thompson News & Events

Thompson Art Show, May 23, 6 - 7:30 pm

During this special evening, the Thompson School will be transformed into an art gallery showcasing the work of all of our amazing student artists! Families and friends are invited to see and interact with the art and the artists. In keeping with the philosophy behind Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB), each student comes up with their own ideas, and decides which techniques and materials would be best to make their ideas come to life. Students will choose the work to display and help mount the work. Our students have a lot to say about their work and why it's important to them. We hope that this show will be a chance for the whole community to come together and celebrate their growth as artists and the unique work they do in the art studio!

Thank You, Volunteers! Volunteer Coffee and Munchies, Friday, June 7 @ 8:15 am

Did you donate any amount of your time or expertise to the Thompson PTO this past school year? Whether you are a member of the board, chaired a community event, fundraised, baked some delicious goodies for events, or helped sell tickets, the PTO thanks you for your time and effort! Join us for a Thank You to Volunteers coffee on Friday, June 7, after drop-off at 8:15 am in the cafeteria. Younger kiddos welcome!

Volunteer Opportunities

Field Day Is June 12

The annual Field Day is set for Wednesday, June 12, this year! The whole school will get together to participate in traditional outdoor summer games. We will need parent volunteers to help set up, help the teachers supervise the kids, and keep them together eating their lunch outside while the teachers go inside the school to have lunch. If you have time to spare that day, please sign up here: Field Day 2019

Volunteer Opportunity: Co-Treasurer 💰

Would you like to be involved in an impactful way with the Thompson PTO? The PTO is looking for a co-treasurer for the 2019-2020 school year. The position is typically a two-year commitment where you'll be making budgeting and spending decisions and maintaining PTO finances. Financial or accounting expertise not required—just someone who is organized, can think critically, and can count! Please email Nandana Mewada (nmewada@gmail.com) or Christy Murphy-Macinta (cembc99@yahoo.com) if you're curious or interested.

Thompson Diversity and Inclusion Group
One aim of the Thompson Diversity and Inclusion Group (DIG) is to share resources and local events that support courageous parents as they talk to their kids about diversity and inclusion.
Dr. Liza Talusan led an interactive workshop last month as part 2 of "Courageous Conversations: Talking to Our Children About Race." Wee the People is one of her suggested resources—a Boston-based social justice project for kids ages 4-12. Follow them on Facebook to be up-to-date on upcoming events. Want to get involved?
