Miss browsing the stacks? Now you can window shop at the Downtown and Pickleweed libraries! When you come for your curbside appointment have a glance at our selection of new books. If you see something you want let us know and we'll check it out to you on the spot.
Another option is to give us a call and let us know what you like-- we'll assemble a team of professionals to find you some perfect page turners.
California COVID Diaries
The California State Library is working with local libraries to collect COVID-19 stories from across the state. We invite you to share your experience — so that we can preserve these memories for future Californians. All types of expression are welcome-- share a poem, artwork, a journal entry, a video or any other format that you've captured your story.
Recommended books, websites, movies, and videos to support learning about race and doing anti-racist work. This list is far from exhaustive, but we hope it provides a good introduction and launchpad to more resources. All these resources are either free or available using your library card.
Storytime Anytime Kits are the perfect solution for families with young kids when browsing our picture book collection in person isn't an option.
Each kit includes 5-8 books on a theme, a “more to share” sheet which includes a song, a rhyme, and an early literacy tip, and a fun puppet to help you tell the stories. The books were selected not only because they are great for reading aloud, but also because they feature diverse authors and characters. Representation matters!
These kits were inspired by the Sacramento Public Library’s Diverse Storytime Kits.
