Thank You

Many thanks to those of you who helped make our Classic FM Fall More Music Minithon fundraiser a success. Even when we added a couple of extra days to the membership drive, dedicated volunteers worked alongside staff including our indefatigable radio hosts. There isn’t enough chocolate, chips, and coffee to adequately show our appreciation for your efforts! All teasing aside, thank you for the time you committed to this event and for your friendly voices on the telephones. I am sorry I was not around to thank each of you personally, but as many of you know, I was on a “bucket list” trip – and yes, I did climb Acropolis Hill to fulfill my dream of seeing the Parthenon.

Sign-in Sheet Help Needed

WCNY is so grateful for the help of our volunteers and we faithfully keep track of the hours you record on the volunteer sign-in sheets when you arrive at the building. But, the sheets are sometimes not filled out completely or in a legible manner. Please take a few extra moments when signing  in and out of the building to do the following:
  • Please print your name.
  • Calculate the amount of time you spent at WCNY (example: if you arrived at 1 p.m. and left at 3:30 p.m. please fill out the total time column with 2.50 hours).
  • Indicate what  volunteer job you did. There are a few columns for frequent volunteer assignments such as Readout Radio and FM Talent, but if there isn’t a column for you to put a check mark in, please write in your volunteer job – FM membership drive, Enterprise America, data entry, etc.
If the information is not filled out completely, we can’t update your volunteer record properly so please, help us to make sure we have your information correctly. Thank you!

Volunteer Opportunities

Enterprise America City
WCNY held its first-ever Enterprise America Homeschool Day on October 27 and based on its success, it will be an annual offering. School groups have also begun arriving and there are two volunteer opportunities in the city – the first assisting students in grades 5-9 as they operate the model city. The second opportunity is help to restock the city after a group leaves. It takes about two hours to get the city for the next group – replacing paper forms, stocking the delivery center shelves, and more.

Readout Radio
We continue to have a need for volunteers who are willing to read the newspapers and/or serve as subs for those who already read the papers.

Membership Mailings
We’re always looking for volunteers to help with weekly mailings of membership materials.

Please contact Debbie Stack if you are interested in any of these opportunities at debbie.stack@wcny.org or at 453-2424.
