The end of 2016 is very near and it's time to extend our season’s greetings to you. We wish you happy holidays, a wonderful start into the New Year and we hope to meet and work with you again in 2017.

We’ll be back in January and 2017’s first edition of our newsletter will focus on landscape restoration in Ghana. Stay tuned!

Landscape Restoration in Ghana Making the Difference

Whereas the forestry sector in Ghana is of great economic, ecological and social importance, forest resources are disappearing and degrading at alarming pace. The Ghana Forest Plantation Strategy (2016-2040) aims to restore forest functions in degraded forest areas and safeguard the sector’s economic importance for the future. The government of Ghana will implement the Ghana Forest Plantation Strategy in close collaboration with the private sector. Form Ghana has been asked to take a primary role in a pilot project.

Form Ghana on CCTV Africa

Environmentalists are looking at the progress made on pledges agreed at last year's talks. In Paris, African leaders agreed to do more to protect and preserve the continent's forests and woodlands. But funding for sustainable forestry initiatives has been difficult to find. This was discovered by Katerina Vittozzi (reporter). Watch the news item she made about Form Ghana for CCTV Africa.

'Doing Business in Africa' Award for Form international

The ‘Doing Business in Africa Award 2016’ has been awarded to Form international. The prestigious prize was awarded during the annual African Ambassadors Dinner on 15 December by the Netherlands-African Business Council (NABC). NABC’s Managing Director Irene Visser is proud that Form international is this years’ winner. "Deforestation is one of the main challenges faced by the people of Africa. Form international's reforestation drive is having a large and important impact on the continent and we fully support their efforts."

Plantation Conference Tanzania

In November Form's CEO, Paul Hol, presented at the Tanzania Plantation Forestry Conference in Dar Es Salaam. The Conference was a continuation in the series of forestry-promoting events, such as the FINNFUND-seminar in 2015 on the role of private sector investments and sustainable forestry and Form international's 'Forests for the Future – New Forests for Africa' Conference in March 2016 in Accra.
