Details of the Wage Subsidy have now been released and these are provided below for you.
Getting away from things Covid, applications are now open for Trainer of the Year and Training Company of the Year and I would encourage those of you involved in training during 2020 to apply. We also have our training graduations coming up and you are all welcome to attend.
Mobil have increased the discount on petrol for those who have Mobilcards through our PrintNZ scheme. From 1 March - 31 May, the discount is increased to 13 cents per litre off the pump price and from 1 June it goes to 11 cents.
With IRD's upgrade to their system over the weekend, there is a different process for applying for Paid Parental Leave - see details below.
To qualify, your business needs to experience a 40% decline in revenue over a consecutive 14-day period between 28 February and 21 March, compared to a typical 14-day period between 4 January and 14 February 2021 (6 weeks before the change in Alert Levels).
The criteria for receiving the wage subsidy are fairly stringent and will not apply to many (if any) of the businesses in our industry.
You'll be able to apply online from 1pm tomorrow (Thursday 4 March) and payments start from Monday 8 March 2021. The subsidy will be paid at the same rate as previous wage subsidies - $585.80 per week for employees working 20+ hours a week and $350 for those doing less than 20 hours and the payment will cover two weeks.
Note: You cannot claim the wage subsidy for an employee if you have applied to have them covered by either the Short Term Absence Payment or the Leave Support Scheme.

Discount for Members at Mobil
Members are able to apply for Mobilcards which provide a discount off the pump price of petrol. This discount is currently 10 cents, but for the next 3 months this has been increased to 13 cents per litre, and then from 1 June will settle at 11 cents. Remember this is off the pump price, so if the petrol is already discounted, you will receive your Mobilcard discount on top of that.
If you want to participate in this scheme please email firstname.lastname@example.org and she will send you the paperwork.
Paid Parental Leave
Following the upgrade of the IRD system over the weekend, the process to apply for Paid Parental leave has been simplified and putting more responsibility on the applicant and less on the employer. The applicant will have to apply to IRD by phone or online and employers are no longer required to provide their details, sign a form or to verify earnings.
Please ensure that any of your staff that this may be applicable to are aware of the change. If they have already applied under the old system they will not be required to do anything.
