Good morning.  Yesterday's announcement about a community case of Covid-19 is a timely reminder to ensure that you all have QR codes prominently displayed and everyone that comes into your premises is either scanning in or signing in.  And of course you should be reinforcing good hygiene practices in the workplace.

If you have staff that are affected by the Northland case you may be eligible to claim the Covid Leave Support Scheme for the time they are absent.  From mid-February 2021 the Government are also introducing a short-term absence payment for staff required to stay home for 1 - 3 days while awaiting the results of a Covid test.  Details for both schemes can be found here.

Training - As we kick off the year, there has never been a more important nor cheaper time to train than right now.

With immigration severely limited for some time to come, we are going to be reliant on the businesses in our industry to ensure that we have an ongoing stream of skilled workers and to assist with this the Government are providing substantial funding.  The subsidies are available for a limited time, so the sooner you start, the more you can save.  See below for all the details.

A member has some large screens for sale in the Hawke's Bay - details below.

Submissions close this week on the proposal to double sick leave from 5 days to 10 and I am working on PrintNZ's submission for that right now.  If you have any particular points you want included please let me know.  If you want to make your own submission click here.

Have a great week - and keep working on those Pride In Print Awards entries.
