Hello everyone - we can't believe Summer is here already! Hope you are starting to enjoy the sunshine that's slowly been emerging.  We wanted to send a quick update around to let you know what we've been up to over the past few months, and what we've got planned for the coming summer.

First and foremost, we would like to thank the wonderful people who arranged and attended the Hampstead Mums Summer Fayre last month. It was a wonderful day enjoyed by all. We were thrilled to see both current and past service users there enjoying the day. The level of support from the local community, local businesses and families, was unprecedented and overwhelming, we cannot thank you all enough. Not only was it a wonderfully fun time, but over £4,000 was raised for Cocoon Family Support. This money will be put towards running our current service to ensure it's sustainability and so we can continue to provide support for the community. Thank you all again!

Counselling Service

As some of you know we are currently offering counselling services in three different locations, Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre (Waterloo), Camden Mind and The Winch (Swiss Cottage). We have numerous slots and able to provide childcare in both Waterloo and Camden locations, so your child can stay with our playworker, Patti, whilst you access your counselling session. Places are full at the moment but if you wish to be added to the waiting list please speak to Rosie or Jessica who will put you in touch with Cocoon’s Counselling Manager Naomi.  Our next available slots will be coming up towards the end of the Summer. For further information on our counselling service please visit www.cocoonfamilysupport.org/counselling

If you are taking a holiday over the summer and this interferes with your scheduled counselling slot, please do let either your counsellor or Naomi know ASAP.

Summer Break Timetable

Due to the term time closures we have put together a unique timetable for the months of July-august. Please see the time table below.

We are very pleased to announce that you will see on the timetable two excursions in particular that we are very much looking forward to. One BEACH TRIP and one FRUIT PICKING TRIP!

These trips have been funded directly from the money raised by Hampstead Mum’s Fayre, thanks again Hampstead Mums!!

Please see the details below:

Family Beach Trip – Westcliff-on-Sea
14th August

Why Westcliff-On-Sea?
Only 34 miles from London, Westcliff provides an escape away from the hustle and bustle of London, but being so close means we only have a short journey time of 1:45 hours.
Westcliff Bay is only a short walk away from Southend pier. We are looking for a peaceful escape so have chosen Westcliff Bay rather than Southend main beach as it boasts the same sandy beaches but slightly away from the sights and sounds of busy Southend.
We are however only 15-minute walking distance to Southend’s famous pier. So for those families wanting to explore they can take themselves to the many attractions of Southend and meet us back in time for the coach to depart back to London.
Westcliffe beach has a café and toilet facilities on site and a splash pool for the children when the tide is out.

What will happen on the day?
We will be providing a coach journey from our West Hampstead centre straight to Westcliff. We do have limited seats on the coach. If you would like to come on the coach, please let us know ASAP. You are also free to make your own way down to Westcliff and meet us at the beach.
We will be having a picnic (please bring your own), playing some team sports and practicing some mindfulness activities on the beach. You are also free to go off from our planned activities, spend some peaceful alone time with your friends/families or alternatively explore the local area. We do not take responsibility however for those that do not arrive back at the coach on time.
For those that are wishing to come on the coach we are asking for families to provide a donation of £5 per person if possible.
Day Timetable:
9:30 AM Meet outside Sheriff Centre (West Hampstead)
10:00 AM Coach departs West Hampstead
11:45 AM Arrive in Westcliff-on-sea
1:00 PM Picnic lunch on the beach
             3:00 PM              Mindfulness session
4:00 PM Depart Westcliff-on-sea
5:45-6:00 PM Arrive back at Sheriff Centre

Parkside Farm – Pick Your Own
27th July

Why Parkside Farm?
Parkside Farm is a “pick your own” fruit and vegetable farm near Enfield (North London).
We have chosen Parkside Farm due to its ease of access and minimum journey time. We are also pleased that the farm has a lovely picnic area for us to rest with our children, enjoy some lunch and even sample some of the fruit and vegetables we have just picked ourselves. They have a wide variety of fruit and vegetables to sample and purchase. The farm is set in the beautiful rolling greenbelt countryside just to the north of Enfield, and yet is easily accessible from all the surrounding areas. For further information on the farm itself please visit their website: www.parksidefarmpyo.co.uk

What will happen on the day?
We will be providing transport via coach, picking up outside our West Hampstead centre in the morning. We will spend some time wandering the fields and picking our own baskets of fruit and vegetables before heading to the picnic area to have some lunch together. We will be asking everyone to bring their own lunches with them. We will then be retuning together via coach back to our West Hampstead centre.
We will not be asking for a donation towards the coach hire, we will however ask you to be responsible for your own fruit and vegetable purchases. If you believe you will have difficulty paying for your own fruit and vegetables please contact Jessica on jessica@cocoonfamilysupport.org to discuss this. We do have limited availability on the coach so please do get back to us with confirmation of your attendance ASAP to ensure you have a seat, please also feel free to make your own way and meet us there. Friends and family are also welcome. If you would like to refer a family that you feel may benefit from this trip please get in touch with Jessica on the above email address.
Day Timetable:
9:00-10:00AM Meet outside Sheriff Centre (West Hampstead)
10:00 AM Coach departs West Hampstead
10:45 AM Arrive at Parkside Farm
1:00 PM Picnic lunch
2:00 PM                                          Coach departs Parkside Farm
3:00 PM Arrive back at Sheriff Centre
FINALLY….

Our ‘Small Steps’ walking group will be running on a weekly basis from now on until Friday 19th August. We keep our dedicated WhatsApp group updated with our upcoming walks and the ever important weather report. If you are not already and would like to be included in our WhatsApp group, please forward us your consent to add your number to the group.
We want to take a quick moment to thank all of our wonderful supporters, volunteers and donors for their continuing support.
A special thank you goes out to all of the families we have met and who have accessed our services. You continue to inspire us every day.
We look forward to seeing you all at some point during the summer months. Have a lovely day everyone.
