This month we are pleased to have seen the launch of some of the first developments and physical installations across the Corridor, witnessed a great presence of CityVerve representatives at Innovate 2016, and published the pilot episode of CityCast.

To help us continue spreading the word among the consortium, please share your updates on particular projects or events that you are involved in and do get in touch if you need our support around messaging.
What’s happened

BT launches CityVerve data hub
This month, BT launched the alpha version of its CityVerve data hub to project partners. The hub gathers together data from a range of sensors around the city with the aim of lowering the barriers to participation in the IoT ecosystem. The hub, which provides one of the central infrastructure features of the CityVerve project, will be focused primarily on the travel and transport theme. CityVerve partners can register to use the hub here.

Asset Mapping installed the first IoT monitor
Asset Mapping announced the installation of the first IoT monitor at Manchester Science Partnership’s Citylabs 1.0. The development connects a secure IoT gateway to the Building Management System to provide a constant stream of live data from all heating, cooling and ventilation systems. Press coverage of the announcement has appeared in a number of local and tech publications, including Manchester Evening News, Place North West and Tech City News.

Ordnance Survey begins street mapping

Innovate UK - Innovate 2016
After another successful showing in London last year, the Innovate UK roadshow was packed up and shipped to Manchester for a busy two days of discussion and demonstration – focusing particularly on smart cities and the technology behind them. Representatives from Ordnance Survey, the University of Manchester, Siemens, Manchester Science Partnerships, Cisco, Transport for Greater Manchester, and Manchester City Council all contributed with talks and panel sessions – each of them highlighting the work being done to not only develop Manchester’s smart city demonstrator, but also to scale it for use by other towns and cities across the globe.
