Vice-Chancellor's Voice

Good morning. Following the Chancellor’s announcement yesterday you will be aware that this is my last Vice-Chancellor’s Voice.  I want to reiterate how privileged I feel to have led this university over the last five years; however my focus at this time must be with my family.

I want to thank Professor Dawn Freshwater for agreeing to take the role of Acting Vice-Chancellor until the appointment of my successor.  Professor Freshwater will continue to lead the implementation of the University’s new structures with support from the extended executive.

This is not quite goodbye, I will continue to be connected with the University over the remainder of the year and you will see me on campus from time to time. Thank you once again for making my time at UWA so memorable. It is your hard work and commitment that makes UWA a wonderful place to work and learn.

Sincerely,

Prof. Paul Johnson
Vice-Chancellor

Work continues on the transition process for the new Service Delivery Model Design, with staff being notified about individual outcomes over the coming weeks. The team is working toward most direct transfers being advised by the end of the first week of November. Updated FAQs are now available and I encourage you to talk to your Manager or Human Resources Business Partner about any queries you have.

The new Academic structure and Service Delivery Model were endorsed by Senate on Monday and the University will now begin implementing the four new Faculties. Expressions of Interest will open later today for the key academic roles of Heads of School and Associate Deans (Research, Education and Community & Engagement), and professional roles of Heads, Faculty Service Delivery and Director, Service Delivery (Central SDC). The positions will be advertised online and I encourage qualified staff to consider applying for these important leadership roles.

Sincerely,
Prof. Dawn Freshwater
Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Registrar
