From your ADEPT President
It’s been a busy few weeks. I’ve met with the London Environment Directors Network (an associate member of ADEPT); attended the Local Government TAG conference; had a useful catch-up with the Highways Term Maintenance Association; chaired a meeting with the SMART Places research programme commissioning board; and met with the new Director of the Cities & Local Growth Unit. I also chaired an ADEPT Leadership Team meeting. All positive and useful meetings with lots of follow-up.
Our media profile continues to grow too – we provided comment on the publication of the interim Raynsford Review and the Defra clean air strategy, along with several articles in Highways magazine. See 'ADEPT in the media' below for more details.
We will shortly be publishing our policy positions on the Industrial Strategy, and Housing. Drafts of these papers were debated at the recent President’s Meeting. The purpose of these position papers is to set out our key messages, and what ADEPT can do to make the most of the opportunities. The Leadership Team discussed what other policy positions we would like to set out; the shortlist included digital connectivity, highways maintenance, and air quality. I’d welcome your thoughts or comments too.

Neil Gibson
ADEPT President 2018/19
