What's On

LaunchVic recently made a $175,000 commitment to Geelong’s burgeoning startup sector with the sponsorship of two key startup events set to run in December 2018.
Pivot Summit 2018 held annually in Geelong, to open up a range of local, national and global opportunity for the region, will this year bring together Australian and international thought leaders to share insights on the future of digital and its impact on how we work live and think.

As part of the new deal, LaunchVic will also run in conjunction with Pivot Summit, a new conference ‘Thrive’. Set to be an annual LaunchVic event, it is pitched at those working in local areas, particularly local government, with a passion for growing startup activity in their communities.

More details coming soon!

The annual LaunchVic Yeah Nah Summit will be held later this month.

Now in its second year, Yeah Nah 2018 is themed Building Founding Teams. We’ve asked the very best of Victoria’s startup community to be vulnerable and share their stories, including the ups and downs of building their founding teams, with you.

Above All Human, will come to Melbourne once again for its 3rd iteration, being held at the stunning World Heritage Site-listed Royal Exhibition Building.

Above All Human is a technology and innovation conference about driving change and solving big challenges. Bringing startups together for a day of insights and innovation from the world’s most pioneering minds.

New Funding For Victorian Coworking Spaces

LaunchVic has unveiled a new program to encourage coworking spaces to appoint high-calibre, experienced startup professionals to support their residents.
Through its ‘Expert-In-Residence’ (EIR) program LaunchVic will invest up to $25,000 per successful application to support growth and learning opportunities for resident startups by attracting EIRs that will provide business guidance, mentorship and support for startups to improve their business capabilities.

Startup Investors Get Multi-Million Dollar Boost

LaunchVic has invested $2.35 million to improve local investor education and help create the next generation of startup angel and venture capital (VC) investors.

As part of the new deal LaunchVic will fund the Wade Institute of Entrepreneurship to deliver one of Australia’s first university-affiliated startup investor courses – the VC Catalyst Program.
The ground-breaking course will be a six-month program delivered by world-class VC experts and practitioners. Wade Institute of Entrepreneurship’s VC Catalyst program will be open to local and international high net-worth individuals, family office investment managers, corporate venturing team members, emerging and future venture fund managers, and current and potential angel investors.
LaunchVic has also funded Scale Investors to convert its existing investor education materials into an online course, increasing the availability of educational resources for investors and stakeholders, including those in rural and regional areas.
