The Diocese of Palmerston North was founded in 1980. Now in our 40th year, we look back with thanks for the good things the Lord has enabled us to do as a diocesan community, and look ahead to dream of what other possibilities God has prepared.

Weekly Update | Friday 5th June 2020

Kia ora koutou!

We are now in the season of Pentecost, and so we will be continuing with our theme of i te wairua o te Kotahitanga - United in the Spirit.

Many thanks to all those who took part in The Upper Zoom on Pentecost Sunday - it was lovely to experience people uniting across the Diocese to pray together, and we have received some great feedback.

This weekend we are thrilled to finally celebrate Deacon Trung's Ordination to the Priesthood on Saturday! The link to the livestream of the Ordination can be found below.

Don't forget to connect with us on Facebook and Instagram for updated information throughout the week, and encourage others to sign up for these updates at
Reminder: the dispensation of attendance at Sunday Mass continues.
This means that there is no obligation attend and celebrate Mass this Sunday. If you're unwell, don't feel comfortable returning to Mass, or aren't able to attend because of restricted numbers or other concerns, we hope the prayer resources offered below keep you connected to our diocese and help you to celebrate Sunday as a holy day.

9:30am Trinity Sunday Mass

Every Sunday we are streaming a live Mass from the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. The video will be available to watch on our Diocesan YouTube page live at 9:30am, or later at your convenience.

This week our livestream Mass will also be Fr Trung's first Mass after his ordination.

Click here to view the livestream, or search for 'Manawatu Mass' on YouTube.

United in Prayer: Trinity Sunday

'United in Prayer' is a prayer & refection resource that we develop every week, with variations for families, teenagers, children, and individuals.

Trung Nguyen will be ordained to the priesthood at 11am on Saturday 6 June. The ordination will be livestreamed from the Cathedral.

Trung will then celebrate his first mass at the Cathedral at 9:30am. He will also celebrate mass at 11:30am, which will be partly in Vietnamese. Bookings are required to attend mass and are nearly full - use the link below to see if spaces are left.

The Upper Zoom

It was fantastic to see so many people from all corners of our Diocese participating in The Upper Zoom last weekend! We know that at least 60 people were praying with us on Sunday and that many more have watched it on YouTube over the past week.
